Malaysia Aviation Academy, ATC Simulators and Training Courseware
for ICAO Courses

An instrument landing system (ILS) situated in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is a ground-based instrument approach system that provides precision guidance to aircraft approaching and landing on runways. An ILS consists of two independent sub-systems, one providing lateral guidance (localizer), the other vertical guidance (glide slope or glide path) to aircraft approaching runways.

PUNCAK also provided a fully customized, integrated and web-based Administration, Management and Training Support Solution system. This consisted of various modules for personnel management, accounting, facility management and course management at the academy. Another deliverable within this project is a fully equipped Language Laboratory for Aviation English training and major ICAO courseware for the academy to conduct ICAO-approved courses.

Dopler Very High frequency Omni Directional Radio Range (DVOR) / Distance Measuring Equipment (DME)

DVOR is an electronic navigation aids used in aviation. This navigation system is a ground base transmitter which emits signals to the receiver on the aircraft. DVOR transmits accurate and specific directional information to the pilot. DME system works concurrently with the DVOR provides the distance measurement. The system installed by Puncak Teknologi (M) Sdn Bhd provides the latest user friendly based system. Touch screen panel offer end-user the ability to monitor the system performance and tune the system at the remote site using the RCMS (Remote Control Monitoring System).

PUNCAK has been awarded DVOR/DME project in July 2008 and expected to complete by end of July 2009. The system is on the air around April 2009 (3 months ahead from the scheduled date). This scope of work covers the design, manufacture, supply, deliver, install ,test and commissioning of a Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-directional Radio Range and Distance Measuring Equipment (DVOR / DME) inclusive of the RCMS and the Comprehensive Maintenance.

Instrument Landing System (ILS) / Distance Measuring Equipment (DME)

Puncak Teknologi was appointed by the Government of Malaysia, under the auspices of Department of Civil Aviation, to provide air traffic control (ATC) simulators including equipment and associated works and training courseware for International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) courses at the Malaysia Aviation Academy located in Sepang.

Aircraft use DME to determine their distance from a land-based transponder by sending and receiving pulse pairs - two pulses of fixed duration and separation. The RCMS subsystem stationed at KLIA Main Control Tower provides monitoring data and also allow control remotely, enabling the operator maintain system operation and integrity.

Puncak Teknologi (M) Sdn Bhd has been awarded with the contract for Comprehensive Operation and Maintenance of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) Complete with Spares at K.L. International Airport, Sepang, Malaysia and it was commissioned in 1st January 2010.
